Puzzle generator

A puzzle is a collection of words that can be formed by some set of characters. The puzzle generator takes any text document and creates puzzles based on its content.

One may set the difficulty level by defining the length of the character set or the minimum number of words in the puzzle.

Word dictionary

Get succint definitions directly from the Colins dictionary of up to three puzzle words at the end of each game.

Vocabulary reinforcement

Feed Word-Detective with the book you are currently reading and reinforce learning of new words in the book.

Hint mode

Do not get discouraged. If a puzzle is giving you a hard time, ask for a hint and half of the letters of the missing word will be revealed.

In puzzle-from-book mode, a text context is given to help the player to discover the word.

Daily puzzle rank

Check how you compare with players all around the world in the resolution of the daily puzzle. A new puzzle constructed from the 5K most common words in English.
